Nakani
Nakani is a dyeing factory located in Sakai, Osaka. They make custom-made tenugui (hand towels) using a technique called chusen (pour-dyeing), screen printing, and roll textile printing, which have been used in Osaka for a long time. Chusen is a dyeing technique in which several sheets of sarashi cotton are layered on top of each other in a jacquard shape, and dyes are "poured" on top of each other. The dyeing process is done carefully and gradually, as if the thoughts of the customer, the designer, and the craftsman are being combined into a single piece of cloth. In this way, the tradition that has been carefully preserved for a long time while taking new form.
